One year ago today, I took my first picture with a SLR/DSLR. I bought my camera second hand from a friend, so it's kind of a birthday for the camera. And what do you do for a birthday, well buy it a present and a cake. I figured a flash was an appropriate Birthday present for a camera. On a special note: I can't believe the store actually charged money for the cupcake and it was not very good.

This will be the last of the bouquet. The bouquet seems to have outlasted my creativity, without posting macros everyday. This is the same flower as yesterday and my original thought was to give it a little spritz of water and set it outside to freeze. With our usual weekend weather, it began to snow. This photo is an uncropped macro with a little adjustment to contrast and sharpening in Elements 7.

Thanks to everyone for all the comments on the bouquet and in conclusion $15.99 can buy you alot of fun.

Day by day the bouquet gets a little thinner. These yellow flowers are still hanging on. The lighting was provided this morning by candlelight.

Another flower from the bouquet. The flowers are starting to look a little ratty but hoping to get a couple of more days out of it.

Did try another Gavin Hoey tutorial last night. The results can be seen here http://wildelifephotography.com/Other/Photoshop-Creations/11037178_AtChA#775766131_Yf2tA-M-LB . The man certainly knows his photoshop. I would like to invest in a good book with techniques like his. If anyone can recommend one it would appreciate it.

4 photos were taken of the carnations from the bouquet and following another tutorial by Gavin Hoey, I used photoshop to put them together in the photo booth style. His tutorials are not only teaching some of the neat things one can do, but some of the basic tools of photoshop.

Tried to get a photo of this flower floating in bubbles, but the focus was a little soft, so I decided to play with it and try another photoshop tutorial by Gavin.
